How we work on your case
We listen to your story and read any letters you got from Social Security.
We go over your full medical history, so no doctor, hospital stay or treatment is left out.
We ask every doctor, clinic and hospital that treated you for your records, and we follow up until they arrive.
We write a legal brief that explains the medical reasons you cannot work and the legal reasons you should be approved.
In downstate New York, we can send a driver to pick up your paperwork. We can also handle much of your case by phone and mail.
Fees
No fee unless you win. You will not be charged for case expenses if we do not win your case.
We use the standard Social Security fee agreement. Fees are set and approved by the Social Security Administration. Under that agreement, the fee is 25% of your past-due benefits, up to $9,200.

How much does a Social Security Disability lawyer cost?
No fee unless you win. You will not be charged for case expenses if we do not win your case. If you win, the fee comes from your past-due benefits under the standard Social Security fee agreement, and the Social Security Administration sets and approves the fee. Under that agreement the fee is 25% of your past-due benefits, up to $9,200.
Do I need a lawyer to apply for SSDI?
No. You can apply on your own. A lawyer can help you gather medical records, meet deadlines, and handle appeals and hearings if you are denied. Your first talk with us is free.
How long do I have to appeal a denial?
In most cases you have 60 days from the day you get the denial letter. Social Security assumes you got the letter 5 days after the date on it. Call us as soon as the letter arrives.
What is the difference between SSDI and SSI?
SSDI is based on your work history and the Social Security taxes you paid. SSI is for people with disabilities who have little income and few resources, whatever their work history. Some people can get both.
Can I work while I apply for disability?
Sometimes, but be careful. In 2026, earning more than $1,690 a month ($2,830 if you are blind) is usually treated as substantial work, which can lead to a denial. In 2027 those amounts are $1,770 and $2,950. Talk to us before you take on work.
Do you take cases outside New York?
Often, yes. Social Security Disability is a federal program, so we accept SSD cases nationwide. Call 516-310-9160 to confirm we can take your case.
Do I have to come to your office?
No. In downstate New York, we can send a driver to pick up your paperwork. We can also handle much of your case by phone and mail.
