We come to you, so you do not have to come to us
We do not have an office in Brooklyn. Our main office is at 86-52 Woodhaven Blvd, a short trip from East New York and Cypress Hills. But you may never need to visit. In downstate New York, we can send a driver to pick up your paperwork. That includes all of Brooklyn. We can also handle much of your case by phone and mail.
We help people from every part of Brooklyn, including East New York, Cypress Hills, Bushwick, Brownsville, Canarsie, Flatbush, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Coney Island and Williamsburg.
What we do
- First-time SSDI and SSI applications. See How to apply for SSDI.
- Collecting your medical records and following up until they arrive.
- Appeals after a denial. See Denied? How to appeal.
- Preparing you for your hearing with a judge. See SSD hearings in New York.
- Checking your back pay. See Disability back pay.
Fees
No fee unless you win. You will not be charged for case expenses if we do not win your case. We use the standard Social Security fee agreement. Fees are set and approved by the Social Security Administration.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have an office in Brooklyn?
No. We help Brooklyn residents from our main office at 86-52 Woodhaven Blvd in Woodhaven, Queens, near the Brooklyn border, and by phone and mail.
Can someone pick up my papers in Brooklyn?
Yes. Brooklyn is part of downstate New York. We can send a driver to pick up your paperwork, so you do not have to travel.
How much does a Social Security Disability lawyer cost?
No fee unless you win. You will not be charged for case expenses if we do not win your case. If you win, the fee comes from your past-due benefits under the standard Social Security fee agreement, and the Social Security Administration sets and approves the fee. Under that agreement the fee is 25% of your past-due benefits, up to $9,200.
How long do I have to appeal a denial?
In most cases you have 60 days from the day you get the denial letter. Social Security assumes you got the letter 5 days after the date on it. Call us as soon as the letter arrives.
Do you help Spanish-speaking clients?
Yes. Se habla español. We work with clients in English and Spanish.
Do you handle both SSDI and SSI?
Yes. We handle both. If you are not sure which one fits you, read SSI vs. SSDI or call 516-310-9160.
